A picturesque village set amid spectacular scenery at the foot of the mighty Eiger, Grindelwald, the 'Village of the Glaciers', offers superb skiing for all grades. It has an efficient gondola system rising steeply from the sleepy resort centre, taking skiers straight to the heart of the pistes above. From here, skiers are blessed with easily accessible and fantastic skiing on the resorts wide, south-facing slopes. Later in the season, skiers revel in long hours of spring sunshine, drinking and eating on the many rustic mountain terraces.
The village itself offers a surprisingly lively and varied après-ski, and the main street is lined with bustling shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. Quieter nights-in are preferred by many in the chalets, enjoying convivial drinks round log fires and dinner tables.
